Volunteer Opportunity: Regional Licensing Officer (RLO)

Swim England South West is looking for a passionate and organised volunteer to take on the role of Regional Licensing Officer (RLO).

This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in supporting competitive swimming across the region by helping to ensure licensed meets are delivered safely, fairly and in line with Swim England regulations.

About the role

The Regional Licensing Officer is the main point of contact for clubs and meet promoters applying for competition licences. Working closely with Regional Office staff, referees and the Regional Swimming Committee, you'll help ensure events meet Swim England Open Meet Criteria and national regulations.

This is a voluntary position, with reasonable out-of-pocket expenses covered.

Key responsibilities

• Review and process applications for licensed swimming meets.
• Allocate Swim England licence numbers to approved competitions.
• Work with County Licence Officers and the National Licensing Panel.
• Monitor post-event reports from promoters and referees.
• Ensure licensing procedures and regulations are followed.
• Report licensing activity to the Regional Swimming Committee.
• Represent the South West at national Swim England Licensing meetings.

We're looking for someone who:

• Is a current Swim England member affiliated with a regional club.
• Has a good understanding of competitive swimming and Swim England Open Meet Criteria.
• Is highly organised, with excellent attention to detail.
• Has strong communication and IT skills.
• Can work collaboratively with clubs, officials and volunteers.
• Is willing to attend regional meetings and represent the region nationally.

Experience organising swimming competitions, officiating as a technical official or referee, or working with committees would be an advantage, but is not essential.
