Alan Howe

Alan is a Registered Nurse with over 30 years of experience in various roles within the NHS and wider community. Having specialised in pre-hospital and emergency care before changing to blood donation three years ago. I have experience of dealing with adult and child safeguarding concerns across many disciplines (Emergency Department, NHS Helpine, GP Out of Hours, 999 Ambulance control, Ambulance Responder, Event Medic, Forsensic Nurse for the police and as a Club Welfare Officer).

I reluctantly became the club welfare officer when our club had no one taking up the challenge, I quickly became accustomed to the processes of SE and implemented policies and procedures to support the club. I reluctantly had to stand down as a welfare officer to take up the next challenge of trustee for our swim club where I have continued to utilise my interest in Health, Safety and Risk Management as well as welfare and safeguarding to support the club.

Having reached out to Libby Bell after stepping back from my club welfare officer role I found myself applying for the regional board as the Safeguarding and Welfare Lead.

Being new to the board I am just finding my feet, though am looking forward to supporting Safeguarding and welfare within our region by providing it a voice at the regional board. I will be joining forums and development days where possible.
