Swim England South West is the regional governing body of swimming in the South West of England.  We are one of 8 regions, affiliated directly to Swim England nationally.

The Region covers the geographical counties of Cornwall, Devon, Dorset, Gloucestershire, Somerset and Wiltshire.  It works to develop the aquatic disciplines of swimming, diving, open water swimming, synchronised swimming and water polo.

Supported by a team of professional staff who are employed by Swim England centrally, the South West works closely with an invaluable and extensive group of volunteers.  The region currently has just shy of 150 swimming clubs and a membership of approximately 26,000.

Regional Welfare

Swim England South West take’s the welfare of all its members seriously.

The welfare of children and young people is very important and we follow the recommendations included in Swim England‘s Wavepower manual.

The theme of Wavepower 2016/19 is to safeguard children and young people in line with current legislation and guidance. The responsibility to safeguard children in our clubs and related activities lies with all those involved in the sport and is not the sole responsibility of any one person at club, county or national level.

Wavepower helps everyone in aquatics to understand their roles and responsibilities to safeguard all of our children and young people.

If you need any support or advice on how to manage a welfare issue please contact your County or Regional Welfare Officer. The Regional Welfare Officer is Marion Britton – email: marion_britton@yahoo.co.uk telephone: 07975 713254

Our Role

The Region aims to develop swimming opportunities for all, working closely with Swim England to ensure it's strategy is aligned.

It is managed by a Regional Management Board made up of appointed volunteers from across our membership and is Chaired by David Flack.  This Board sets the strategic direction of the region and oversees the work of the 5 discipline committees who in turn manage their discipline.

A team of professional staff support the Region and work from the Regional office base in Wellington, Somerset.
