Durrington Otters Swimming Club are Seeking a Head Coach

This is an exciting opportunity for a level two or three qualified swim coach to join Durrington Swimming clubs dedicated coaching team. Based near Salisbury, Durrington Otters are a motivated and positive swimming club consisting of 48 swimmers from ASA level 6 through to regional competitors. The SwimMark accredited club train four evenings a week in a four lane pool.

We are looking for a Coach with passion and enthusiasm who wants to grow and develop with the club. The coach in this role would be responsible for delivering a coaching programme that both motivates and inspires our swimmers to reach their personal goals.

Working with the support of our current dedicated coaching team, your role would include coaching our junior and development squads and designing a varied coaching program to support the Club Competition Schedule as well as supporting at galas 

The ideal candidate will:

  • Hold an ASA Level 2 coaching qualification.
  • Have a high level of technical knowledge, ability to teach competitive start and deliver land training desirable.
  • Be willing to keep updated with modern swimming approaches and best practice and to apply and share this technical knowledge with coaching staff.
  • To have excellent and open communication skills with the swimmers, coaches, teachers, parents and committee volunteers.
  • Be able to explain and discuss swimming performance with parents, the club committee and coaches when required.
  • To monitor swimmer progress and co-ordinate development through the squad with all coaches to ensure swimmers reach their potential. This should include regular goal setting with coaches.
  • Have excellent time management, organisation and administration skills.
  • To be able to implement and evaluate an annual programme which caters for all club members.
  • To demonstrate and implement the code of conduct for swimmer and coaches.
  • Ensure poolside safety for swimmers and the team.
  • The demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.
  • Good administrative skills and computer literacy to support the role.

Qualifications and other requirements:

  • Hold a Swim England Senior Coach certificate (ASA level 2 swimming coach).
  • Child safeguarding certificate from Swim England approved training provider.
  • Competitive swimming background would be an advantage.

This is a permanent part time position and will involve working flexibly inline with the club requirements offering afternoon and evening sessions across a 4 day week plus some administrative time. There will be a requirement to attend galas and open meets.

A competitive salary is offered reflective of relevant skills and experience. The appointment is subject to pre-employment checks and Disclosure and Barring Service clearance.

The role could be undertaken as a job share.
