Ability may take you to the top, but it takes character to stay there

The region runs a Young Volunteers Programme to retain and train our young volunteers aged between 14-25 years.  There are a variety of topics to support learning in their Swim 21 club environment.  This programme has been running successfully for the past five years and we have trained in excess of 400 young people.  The programme is run in association with the County ASAs and includes opportunities in Team Management, Judge 1, Event Management and voluntary work within home clubs.

Mentoring training has been provided free of charge to any of the clubs who have young people involved in the programme and we continue to grow the scheme.  Some of our first ever young volunteers are now employed as full time coaches, so this scheme really does produce our next generation of young coaches and volunteers.

One such young volunteer was Teri Jeynes who is now the Sport Presentation Manager at the National Championships. Please click here to see a copy of Teri's recent blog.
