Lydney Swimming Club is a competitive swimming club recruiting for a head swimming coach to work with swimmers of all ages.

The candidate will ideally have experience of coaching different age groups of swimmers up to county level as a minimum. They must be highly motivated and able to lead, and work with, a well-established coaching team. They will be responsible for development of an annual training plan, populating a competition calendar, be present at competitions and guiding and supporting other coaches and poolside helpers. In return, the club offers some flexibility on hours, great support, and a friendly, inclusive team. The club with also consider any additional training requests.

Sessions are:

  • Monday 18.30 - 19.30
  • Thursday 18.00 - 19.00
  • Friday 18.00 - 19.30
  • Sunday 1700 - 18.00

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate different communication styles and behaviours to support swimmers to enjoy their sport and reach their potential. The candidate will be able to work with Swimmers, coaches, parents and the committee.

Skills and Qualifications: 

The Coach will:

  1. Hold a current Swim England Coaching Certificate/ASA Level 2 coaching qualification
  2. Have undertaken or willing to undertake addition courses such as the Swim England DIAP training
  3. Be self-motivated
  4. Have good knowledge and understanding of the discipline of swimming
  5. Display excellent interpersonal, organisational and time management skills
  6. Have the ability to confidently lead training sessions
  7. Be able to guide and support assistant coaches and poolside helpers
  8. Have the ability to communicate effectively with swimmers, parents, and Committee
  9. Have a good working knowledge of child protection procedures
